"Health and safety is something we are going to continue to be focused on," Chesky said. "That private space is obviously quite good when you don't want to come in contact with people if you don't know if they have the vaccination or what they have."

"They want to get in cars, travel just a couple hundred miles, not be around people they don't know and gather in a space that feels like home," Chesky said.

Due to COVID-19, leisure travelers are less comfortable staying in crowded resorts – or visiting crowded tourist districts.
